Preparing Occupational Health Referrals

Target audience - Birmingham City Council Adult Social Care Managers only

Duration - One hour

Dates : Thursday 14th January 2021 (12noon to 1pm) or

             Tuesday 2nd February 2021 (10.30am to 11.30am)

Delivered via Microsoft Teams by a colleague from the Occupational Health team

The session will:

  • Provide an overview of Occupational Health - which services are available including additional services such as physiotherapy.
  • Which services are not available
  • Cover the How, when and why referrals are made
  • Cohort information on setting up an account and how it functions.

There will be a brief presentation but with plenty of opportunity to have a Q & A at the end of the presentation.

This half day course aims to update authorising signatories who have already undertaken the Edge full day signatory course. It provides information on the latest news, guidance and case law relating to DoLS and considers how this impacts upon the specific role of signatories. The course also aims to look at wider strategic issues for local authorities in relation to DoLS. 

Note: people who are new to the role of authorising signatory and need to know to what to look for on the DoLS assessment forms in terms of authorising DoLS should undertake the full day DoLS signatory course from Edge.


The main aim of this half day course is to give people the opportunity to update their legal knowledge and skills regarding their work as AMHPs with a particular focus on informal admissions.


This course is designed to provide AMHPs with a refresher on Community Treatment Orders (CTOs).


The main aim is to refresh AMHPs knowledge and skills in the completion and scrutiny of MHA statutory forms. After completion participants will be sufficiently familiar with law and guidance in this area of practice to carry out their statutory role.

This course aims to enable participants already familiar with the Mental Capacity Act to maximise their skills in assessing capacity and best interests. It provides an in-depth analysis of the assessments and considers the latest case law.
